Petron Corporation is a world leader in Gear Lubricants, primarily catering to mills, kilns, shovels, and draglines in the mining, cement, and power generation industries. Established in 1968 in New Berlin, Wisconsin, they supply quality engineered lubricants globally. Their diverse product line is custom designed and manufactured to meet specific industrial requirements.
CHARACTERISTICS
PETRON in OGL lubricants, bases its protection on the very high viscosity of the base oils used in its lubricants. In this way, it always manages to work with adequate lambdas that guarantee elastohydrodynamic lubrication. We also use extreme pressure additives when necessary. The high viscosity of the oils used also dampens vibrations and therefore helps prolong the life of bearings, couplings and others that are connected to the lubricated components. Many OEMs approve our lubricants and in some cases even recommend them.
Given the service they are going to fulfill, PETRON's MPG greases base their working principle no longer on the use of high-viscosity oils, but on the use of calcium sulfonate thickeners. When necessary, they additionally use EP additives such as molybdenum disulfide and others.
BENEFITS
PETRON guarantees a long life of lubricated components, exceeding the lives designated by the OEMs. PETRON also guarantees the lowest lubricant consumption, but always complying with AGMA and OEM recommendations. At OGL, manufacturers have always recognized the benefits of using high-viscosity lubricants and thus the acceptance of our lubricants by mining equipment manufacturers worldwide. In the cement industry they are just doing it.
Similarly, in blades, manufacturers are only recently recognizing the advantages of working with high viscosities and not relying solely on the welding load of the greases. CAT has already instituted this in its latest OGL lubricant specifications.
In greases, the new trend is to work with calcium sulfonate soaps as MPG or multipurpose grease. The benefits of these soaps are many, high intrinsic EP resistance, reduced consistency change with work, which improves lubricant consumption, resistance to high temperatures, resistance to water washout, among others.
